about
Ever since I was a little girl singing has been a huge part of my life. Coming home from school I went straight to my room to sing or play the guitar and I realized I had found my outlet. When I had my first heartbreak I started writing songs and it helped me to deal with the pain, stress and my insecurities. Having a broken heart is a very dark place to be in and sometimes it feels like you will be stuck there forever. When I wrote “When I sing” I could barely sing my own songs because I was crying all the time. I was heartbroken and every line I wrote about this guy hit me in the heart when I sang it. “When I sing with tears streaming down my face, it’s still the best thing happening today” is one of my purest lines because being able to cry and let my pain out through music, little by little took a huge burden off my shoulders.
lyrics
here’s nothing you can do
To make my cry tonight
You did everything you could
Still I’m standing here
Am I alright?
I went through the worst phase
Of my life so far
And I’m feeling bad for feeling alone
Like there’s nobody to call
So when I sing
With tears streaming down my face
It’s still the best thing
Happening today
There’s nothing you have to do
To make me cry I lied
‘Cause every thought of you
Takes me right back
And I want you by my side
Oh I went through the best phase
Of my life with you
And the city is not the same
Memories replace each place
Without you I’m no good
So when I sing
With tears streaming down my face
It’s still the best thing
Happening today
I’m still wondering
Are you listening?
I keep wondering
Are you listening?
So when I sing
With tears streaming down my face
It’s still the best thing
Happening today
When I sing
With tears streaming down my face
It’s still the best thing
Happening today
